'Fraid I don't really have any ideas, but may I say that this story sounds awesome?
The best I can suggest is to maybe consume media with similar types of plotting/planning. They aren't adventure novelists, but I recommend Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett - their books and movies have amazingly complicated plans and double-crossing and double-double-crossing. I recently read Mad Kestral, a pirate tale in a magical setting, which might be helpful/amusing.
Hmm, or maybe make a list of all your characters and their goals, then see how those goals might fit in with or derail each other - From there maybe you can piece together who would try to sabotage the plan, and why, and how the other characters might try to protect themselves.
